Hello Everybody!
It has been quite some time since I have written. You probably wondering why, well there is school and I now have a full time job and it's pretty damn difficult to keep up with and there hasn't been too much that is too interesting for me to post, to be quite honest. But recently tonight I realized there is something write about my favorite thing in the world....MUSIC!
I was on a kick tonight when I was making my ma's peanut butter candy of listening to The Band (Up on Cripple Creek, The Weight...if you don't know who they are after that google it!) But I randomly and suddenly got into my thing of listening to rock (always will have a place for it in my heart). I started with Thin Lizzy, Sweet, Foghat, The Black Crowes, Guns N Roses, Motley Crue... then it went right to Hole, The Donnas, The Runaways, Joan Jett and Blondie. It was then I had a realization there aren't anymore kick ass girl bands! Yes I know I said Hole, and with all the craziness and the bullshit Courtney Love has done none the less some of their stuff is pretty damn good. I will give her that credit. The Donnas are another kick ass girl band, Allison Robertson (guitarists and vocals) is a damn good guitar player she can play it right along with the boys. The same thing goes for Lita Ford of The Runaways and Miss Joan Jett. Miss Debbie Harry didn't play an instrument but she had some pretty amazing vocals to back herself! But there is something about these ladies that I personally like that give it that edge and middle finger in the air if you don't like me. Let me get straight to the point...WE HAVE NO ONE LIKE THIS IN THIS PRESENT GENERATION! Yes we have Rihanna, Nikki Whatever, Katy Perry, and Taylor Swift. But these girls are all about pop crap, and nothing against them but seriously it's not all sugar and spice and everything nice! I am so surprised that with so much of the women's right movements and equality for all that we don't have someone that's a female rocker of this century...or do we? We do have one female that I simply forgot about......(don't ask me how, but I did.)
Ladies and Gentlemen I give you the beautiful and badass Otep Shamaya!

She is the only rock in your face finger in the air, I'll kick your ass and screw you later lady I can think of! She is absolutely gorgeous and an amazing singer to boot! We need more gals like her! Where did they all go? Are women now so stuck with wanting to look pretty and take off their clothes that they no longer think they can have a voice in rock n roll, let alone metal? When I was growing up the ladies that I mentioned where the ones that I looked up too, next the Queen of Soul herself. I wanted to be like them, I wanted to be the badass with the finger in the air, drink with boys and kick your ass. But fate decided that I wouldn't handle that lifestyle (thank you) and that I can't sing for shit. Regardless of that, we need more ladies to get into rock n roll, and kick some ass. So I must ask you, do you agree? Does rock n roll/ metal need more ladies or should we let the guys handle it? And now to leave you with words of wisdom and some videos by these lovely ladies....
"I grew up in a world that told girls they couldn't play rock n roll." - Joan Jett
