Does everybody remember the good ole' days of youth? When you would secretly steal your brother/sisters/family member's copy of Freddy Krueger or Jason or Chucky and watch in the middle of the night, during a sleepover? I sure do! (Thanks Marissa!! haha). I was eight years old, at my friend's house and we watched Nightmare on Elm St. 1, 4 and 5. Needless to say (I am a big wimp anyway) I was scared. For two weeks I looked under my bed for Freddy! Although it scared me, I found it exciting. There has always been something about being scared, getting that jolt that gives your body the adrenaline rush. When you get that fight or flight feeling your body releases dopamine in your blood which acts as a natural pain killer ( gotta love the human body). But what is it about a horror film that get's your heart pumping even more blood? Is it the guts? The story? These are my top ten horror films, (whether you consider it a horror movie or not I don't care...because in film they are considered horror!):

These are the some of the first really jolting scary films. Everybody has their own opinion on it, but to be honest these are the ones that really started it all. Now I know I didn't include such great films as; Rosemary's Baby, The Birds, The Wolfman, Dracula, The Bride of Frankenstein, Halloween (original) , Hellraiser, Black Christmas, The Last House on the Left, Scream, I could go on. But these where really the ones that scared me in my youth. As you might have noticed I didn't put down any new horror films...and I did that for a reason, although they might be "boo scary", they don't really have an originality that a lot of the old ones do. I most definitely give Eli Roth credit for coming up with new ideas, and having wonderful respect for old horror films. But a lot the production companies and film director's aren't using any new formula, they're all using the same shit that we all grew up on. Honestly I think it would be better if production companies stopped coming out with horror films for a little while and actually took the time to come up with something that would truly be scary! That's one of the reasons why we have such AMAZING classic horror films, because they didn't just put one out every five months from each other, they took the time to write something truly frightening. Music; what makes good music?
Good Evening!
The question on my mind today, what makes good music? Is it the guitar riffs/cords? Is it the bass? Is it the snare drum, a cowbell or the beats the musican has come up with? Or is it the lyrics to the song, or is it the singer's voice? I am going to take all of the above for $1,000 Alex! Good music is defined by many different opinions. Some people think Led Zeppelin is good music, or Mozart is good music. Everyone has their own taste of what is good music. For me anyways, good music always has to do with the singer, the guitar sound, the bass, and the drums or whatever else instrument they choose to use in the song. One of my favorite good music songs has to be without a doubt; A Day in the Life by The Beatles. http://youtu.be/P-Q9D4dcYng. The lyrics to the song really kind of put different thoughts into perspective. As though many people seemed to think that the song had to do with the Guiness Heir Tara. That wasn't really the case, as Lennon said, " Tara didn't blow his mind out, but it was in my mind when I was writing the verse." But none the less, Lennon and McCartney both lightly joked that the song was a drug song. Well it was composed in the late sixties, not to much of a suprise when you have the Vietnam War going on, Revolutions, and Timothy Leary. There is something about this song, that (for me anyway) hits that little spot inside you...YOUR HEART. I am not necessarily talking about your actual blood pumping heart, or maybe I am?! Regardless of where it really hits you, it gives you this bone chilling kind of feeling. The melody in the middle after Paul's little diddle, with the orchestra is simply amazing with John doing a long ahhh, gives me chills. There was always something that was different about The Beatles. I think it was, how they wrote their music, how they collectively really where one of the first bands to really come together (no pun intended) and really write and want to have that say in their music. If you really stop and think not that many "bands" that where coming out in 1963 really truly wrote their own shit, and alas forty eight years later their still having someone else write their songs. Truly pathetic. But I'm getting side tracked from what the subjet truly is... music and what makes it good? What makes good music to you?

1st Blog
Hello World!
This is my first blog ever! Let's all jump up and down for joy! Now, to move on from my dorkness. This blog isn't just going to be about small tid bits from my daily life, or things I have witnessed or seen, or what have you. But sometimes there's going to be some blogs about books I am currently reading (and no, I don't plan on starting a book club like Oprah!) or music I am currently listening to, or movies I have recently watched or have been recommended to watch. I would love to hear other people's opinions and have discussions on them. There is one rule, I plan on making on my blog, since this is my page (technically owned by Google..thanks Google!! ) Rule #1. Don't hate on Music. If your going to hate go do it somewhere else! So far, folks this is the first blog ever omg. Definitely kidding! Words of wisdom to close out the night, Paul McCartney once said, "I don't take me seriously. If we get some giggles, I don't mind." Think about it...
