Walking Dead Review & Charlie Brown is a bully?

Hello All!!

These past few days have been a little crazy so forgive me for not keeping up on my blog! Recently I had heard in the news that there parents getting upset about CBS showing, "It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown!" Specifically I guess they are also bloggers, October 25 is their name. Now I can sort of understand what they are saying about our infamous Halloween special is that there is teasing and taunting and bullying in it. Well that there might be some teasing and bullying in it but it was done what forty five years ago? If not more, things were a little bit different back then I am not trying to justify bullying in any way shape or form. But it is a tv special, some of the jokes or things that are said during these specials were intended for the parents as well. What will be next from these other bloggers, CBS shouldn't be showing "Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer" because he get's bullied about his nose? As I said before I am not trying to justify bullying in any way shape or form but this is a tv special it is meant for fun. Pretty soon they'll have protesters at haunted houses telling the monsters to stop because their hurting somebody's feelings.. Good Grief!

Now onto better things....THE WALKING DEAD!
The most recent episode of the walking dead was a shocking one to say and it was awesome. But what I thought was weird was we were not included with Rick and the gang this time around. This time around were are with Andrea and Michonne, and they see a helicopter fall and these soldiers get killed, insert Governor of Woodbury and Dale's brother! From there it's just really twisted and the whole time your watching it, you don't trust the Governor. It's just such a twist and back words episode  I highly suggest watching it so you can catch up on it!! I'm not going to get into all details as there are still people out there who haven't seen it! No full spoilers here, sorry!

So that's about it for today everybody in the words of Linus,
"He'll come here because I have the most sincere pumpkin patch and he respects sincerity."

Halloween's Coming!!

Hey Guys!

So we are coming upon the last official week (sort of) of October which means Halloween is just around the corner or for those of you who call it Hallows Eve. I know I am excited, but I am mainly excited to go dressing up on Saturday night down to see The Full Body Cast that I had mentioned in my last blog! So there will be a review after I'm done getting my transsexual on! I think this time of year is more magical and definitely more fun than Christmas is. There is something that is so eerie about Halloween and something that is so dark and almost unnatural about Halloween that anyone young and old get into the spirit of it. For Halloween this year I am going as a pinup girl (sort of). I am getting out of the old box my cheetah print strapless dress and doing my make up half pin up face half day of the dead face! I am so excited, I think by far this is my favorite Halloween costume yet!

Even as a child, I loved the whole idea of dressing up, but then again what little girl doesn't? At Halloween you can be anybody you want, anybody you've desired to be. So in turn dear friends, I must ask you what are you going to be for Halloween?

Walking Dead; New Season

Hello Everyone!

I hope everyone's weekend was filled with tons of fun and good times. Now I know a lot of you were probably either out seeing the new movie Sinister, or going to a haunted house as they have been getting ad time on my blog or maybe you waited to do anything till Sunday night to watch the new Walking Dead like so many did.

I am one of those people. I was so excited to see it. Now let's do a quick recap on what happened in the previous season, group has to survive they stumble upon Hershel's farm in the middle of no were, sounds awesome right? Well of course, but actuality not so good. Turns out Mr. Hershel there was hiding Walkers (zombies folks) in his barn and one of them happened to be innocent sweet Sophia. (Insert sadtimes). Tons of group betrayal (those that have seen it know what I mean), many killings, and planning ways to get out. Well in the long end of it they don't really have a choice at a certain point and have to escape the farm. There they live one behind to fend for herself (this was not done on purpose). They continue fending for themselves but in the NEW episode, they find a prison! Perfect!! Well almost if they can just get rid of those pesky walkers (again zombies folks!) I am not going to give away all the lovely little details of the new episode because I know that currently not that many have seen it yet, so I will let you watch it from there. But I will say I think this season is going to be more intense then what we saw last season if that's even possible. This was by far the greatest first episode into the new season, if your looking for tons of betrayal and bullshit, your not going to see it just yet. Little bit of a spoiler there, but if you are naturally a fan of The Walking Dead, you know damn well this was a perfect opening to the new season, I cannot wait to see what's going to happen. Well friends that is all for now. I don't even have a quote for you today! Haha. So instead of a quote, I will say that now after watching that, I am always in the mood and waiting for a zombie to come in and starting to mess things up, but you know if you take a good look around outside of what society has created you're already seeing zombies. Oops got a little political there, well hope you all have a good night and enjoy the new walking dead! I cannot wait to see what this is going to bring to the table but hopefully it's all good  and violent things!! :).

BTW, so you all are informed yes I now have ads on my blog, but I want to make it perfectly clear to you out there, I am personally sorry if you are seeing political ads. I know that many of you are extremely tired of seeing it, as well as I am at this point. I have my child asking me who these people are and here I thought I was being a good parent and blocking her from all this. So if you see political ads, let me know. I am working with google ad dashboard to get rid of them. I just don't think it's fair for you guys to see it when your reading this as an escape. If you can't get me on here, get at me at my email: sara.jane87@live.com! Again thank you guys and keep me informed....

Now were did that ax go??

My Top Ten Favorite Horror Movies

Hello Everybody!
What makes a horror movie memorable? The sounds, the actors? The darkness, the age you were when you saw it. Horror movies have always been part of culture, we love the idea of being scared and seeing something frighten someone else. Now let's get on with my top ten favorite horror movies starting with:

10. Nightmare on Elm Street

This movie was the first horror movie, I had ever seen. I had spent the night at a girlfriend's house, and she suggested that we watch Freddy. She told us he was funny and we would laugh. Ha-ha  I didn't laugh. I sat there in fear, putting my head into my pillow at times and wincing to look up. Needless to say, I could not go to bed, and for weeks I kept looking under my bed for Freddy. What makes Nightmare on Elm Street so great, is that when we were growing up, there was nothing else really like Freddy. He was an original, and it was more the fact that he could come into your dreams and manipulate you. That was what was terrifying. And how can you not forget the nursery rhyme that went with him? 1,2 Freddy's coming for you, 3,4 better lock your door, 5,6 grab your crucifix 7,8 gonna stay up late, 9, 10 never sleep again. For tweens/teenagers seeing a horror movie for the first time this would be my recommendation.

9. Hellraiser

Believe it or not, Hellraiser I have just most recently watched. The storyline keeps you entertained for a the entire movie. It is a pretty disturbing movie. The story goes as a women has cheated on her husband with his brother and he had pandora's box. You can imagine how the rest of the story goes. Pinhead is really only shown towards mid-way of the film and then again at the end. But even then, he is still scary and frightening. This is definitely highly recommended!!

8. Bride of Frankenstein

The bride of frankenstein is such a classic horror movie. It tells such a good story of Frankenstein wanting his own love or as they say mate! This film begins where the first one left off, and the story line goes as the villagers burning down the mill and not realizing that Frankenstein is still alive, the villagers chain him up he escapes, he learns words, learns about another doctor wanting to make him a mate for him. It's such a good story, and it is considered horror, although most would consider it a love story. Recommended.

7. Rob Zombie's Halloween

This movie has received a lot of criticism and praise, depending on how you looked at it.  It tells a story of a boy named Michael whose growing up in not the greatest house hold in the world but their still a family. After years of mental abuse and some psychical Michael finally snaps. This movie is one of the greatest. Don't misunderstand John Carpenter had a wonderful story and made a good film, but I think he was sort of lacking the tools and the budget to be able to pull off what he really wanted. Most people that are fans of a franchise at some point, usually want the back story of what happened with the monster, as a country we are completely fascinated with someone's biography. Rob took his story and just improved it and it was done amazingly. Highly Recommended.

6. House of 1000 Corpses

House of 1000 Corpses is another one directed and written by Mr. Zombie. The movie has a very campy, seventies/eighties feel to it. This movie has such the cliche story of four kids out on the road and then something happens to them oh no! But it takes a turn and it goes somewhere you really wouldn't imagine. Most people fall in love, with the villans of this film. You just kind of side with them over the victims. This movie has achieved cult status and it's one of the best.

5. Dawn of the Dead

Dawn of the Dead is still one of the best zombie films out there. Yeah, all these news one have different spins on it and their good, but nothing compares to the original director of zombies. This was one of the first ones to really give audiences that jolt that they wanted. It had the same power pact that Night of the living dead did. This was one of the first horror movies I think to be staged in a mall. George Romeo does no wrong. This movie is a different kind of scary, it's a scary on the level of reality. We don't know if this could happen or not, but the idea of it is terrifying.

4. I spit on your grave

I spit on your grave is a crazy story from start to finish. This poor woman who is escaping the city to go her cabin in woods to write her novel, but she doesn't exactly get the relaxation that she wanted. She is later attacked viciously and sexually by the local towns men, but she has plans for revenge and get's them back at their own sick game. This movie is one the greatest revenge stories ever told. Boys listen up, just because you see a girl in the woods without much clothing on, doesn't necessarily mean she wants you!! Again greatest revenge story told.

Now the top three!!

3. Audition

I heard about audition when I was watching Bravo's 100 Greatest Horror Movies. Once, I heard Rob Zombie say that it scared him, I figured I needed to see it. When you first watch Audition, the beginning is a little prolonged, but it does pick up. The story of the poor man who has lost his wife and is raising his son by myself, is starting to get lonely so his friend makes him an offer he can't refuse. An audition to find a girlfriend...but it does go wrong in ways that you would never think. That is the one thing about foreign horror films they always go outside the box, and when I say outside the box I mean way out of the box. Definitely highly recommended, but not if you have a weak stomach.

2. Trick R Treat

Every so often in the horror industry, there comes a story that has never been told before. Trick R Treat is that story. I forget how I heard about Trick R Treat, but I watched it and it is one of my top favorites (duh). But it tells stories within a story, that is very rarely done in Hollywood, and the little boy that you see above is Sam, he is the origin of Halloween. It is said that if you don't follow the rules of Halloween, Sam comes to get you! I am not going to get into all the stories that are interwoven together, in this film. But I do suggest that you see it!! It is one of the best Halloween movie scares you will see!! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!

And last but most certainly not least....

1. Evil Dead

The Evil Dead is the ultimate classic horror movie! The movie is a cliche as you can get; four teens all couples going out into the woods for some relaxation and some naughty behavior. But they find a some tapes, and listen to them. Little do they know that they have awoken the spirits  of the dead. From start to finish this movie is so good and so interesting. It does have some laughs in it, for many that have seen it all I have to say to you is shemps, and the tree! If you haven't seen it, see it!! All time hands down, favorite horror movie! VERY RECOMMENDED!

Well guys that's it. It was a bit of a battle coming up with this list, I think I rewrote it about ten times to get it just right. I hope you guys have enjoyed my favorite horror movie countdown! Now go watch some of em', and if you already seen them then see something else that the director might have directed or been part of.

Thank you!

I just want to say thank you to the folks that are reading this! It's so awesome to know that people are actually reading this! I started this blog off for fun, but now it's become something a little more. When I started this blog, there was maybe five reads on it. Now there's well over 300 reads. It's very nice to see.

I guess I'm also going to do this a blog as a little bit of a biography. My name is Sara. I live way out in New Hampshire. I have a wonderful family who I adore. I am currently enrolled in school to become an elementary school teacher believe it or not. I am a lover of music, film, theater, anything entertainment really. I started this blog to just post my thoughts about different films, different music, I was tired of reading blogs that were strictly based on all things new. Well that's nice and all, but not all the new stuff is nice and you know that they're just doing it to get points. I'm not doing this blog to gain points or anything. I am doing this blog to simply express my opinion about different things, if you guys agree with me and want to leave comments and discuss it then that's awesome. If not, that's cool. Well that's all really today guys, I will be posting later another blog of my top ten favorite horror movies, so stay tuned, "don't move an artery or even a vein!" Ten points for anyone who can guess where that line came from, it's one of my favorite movies! So a big thank you guys for reading the blog and please keep reading. I am new to this so hopefully within the month I will have this all worked out. I am currently in projects of doing a youtube video and a tumblr account, and a twitter account. I will be starting up a different facebook account, strictly for the blog and everything else. You guys rock!! Keep reading and let me know if you guys have any suggestions for some blogs, I am open to ideas!!

Good Halloween Music; Anything outside of the regular?

Good Morning All!

Recently I was talking to my fiance about what my next blog would be about. He suggested Halloween music. I looked at him and said, "Marilyn Manson, Orgy, Murderdolls, Static X, The Nightmare Before Christmas Soundtrack." Then he looked at me and said, "Yeah, but is that all there is?" (Insert Sex and the City episode 74). But he has a point. When I think of Halloween music, I think of many of those things above, but I also think of those spooky Halloween Cd's you can get in almost any store. But is that all there truly is? Is that all we have for Halloween music really? Well not so much. There is classical music for Halloween  Shocked face? I know. I didn't expect it either!

But apparently such a thing does exist.  It's actually a pretty good idea if you want to go against the grain. I have always found that older music has more of a creepier vibe than the mainstream music of Halloween does. I mean sure it's nice to hear Thriller, The Addams Family theme song, I put a spell on you, Sweet Dreams are made of these (either version, but most think of Manson's.). But every now and again it's not too bad to switch it up. Below, are some classical songs that give a spook, and some popular spook songs. Let me ask you ladies and gentlemen, What's your favorite Halloween song?

                                          (Mozart Requiem Dies Irae)

(Bach Toccata and Fugue in D minor, organ)

(Grieg- In the hall of the mountain king)

(This is Halloween- The Nightmare Before Christmas)

   (Sweet Dreams-Marilyn Manson)

(Screamin' Jay Hawkins- I put a spell on you)

                                            (The Addam Family Theme Song)

Review on The Fall and Doghouse

I have recently seen the films; Doghouse and The Fall. Both films are absolutely amazing.

The Fall is a story about a man (Roy) who is a stuntman in the 1920's, and he is in the hospital due to his injuries. While he's in the hospital, he meets a girl by the name of Alexanderia who is a little italian girl who is in the hospital for getting hurt at her parent's orange grove. He starts to tell her a story about five men that seek revenge on Odious (he is an evil ruler). I'm not going to get into deep but it's the subplot. The film's cinematography is absolutely breathtaking and the colors that they choose to use were careful thought out. Not just thrown in. The costumes in this film as well, were really well done. The story that is told, is capturing. You end feeling so bad for Roy and Alexandria. The characters that you see in this you fall in love with and want to know more about. If this movie doesn't capture you then almost nothing will. I will say that this is a movie that you have to watch again and again (it was suggested to me to do so.).

Doghouse is a funny horror movie about six friends that have a guys weekend. Little do they know that when they enter what seems to be a nice quiet little town that has a woman to men ratio of 4-1, they're actually entering a town that is having governmental experiments done. Sounds like it could make for a fun weekend right? Not so much when you start getting chased. From start to finish this movie has you laughing. It is definitely up there in cult classic. If you don't know what that word means, I suggest you go look it up. :).

So friends, these are two films that were suggested to me. I suggest to you that you watch them. They'll make you laugh and cry. Best medicine there is you know.

Neil- "Alright, calm down...You sound like a dolphin." (Doghouse)

Blue Bandit-"What a mystery of this world, one day you love them and the next day you wanna kill them a thousand times over. " (The Fall)

It's that time of year again...time for Halloween Movie Releases. What do I have in my goody bag? Tricks or Treats?

Hello All,
It is that time of year again, it's Halloween time! Now we all know that Hollywood is coming out with so many new horror movies as they possibly can. Let's see what we have in store so far;

                                                  Sinister
                          (October 12, 2012.)

This movie is supposed be one of the scariest movies to come out yet. I think we'll let the viewers decide on that one. The story is done by Scott Derrickson, and C. Robert Cargill. Directed by Scott Derrickson. He has done films that we know as; Hellraiser: Inferno, The Exorcism of Emily Rose and The Day The Earth Stood Still. The plot of this is; a family was murdered there. Months later another family moves in. The father of this family, finds videos that show the family being killed, but he finds this really demonic looking person in some of the footage, making him further investigate what happened to that family and look into the demon looking guy's background (classic horror movie mistake.) And it goes from there. It does look a little scary, but I have this awful feeling that the scariest scenes we've already seen in the trailer. I wasn't too much of a fan of the second film or the last one mentioned by the director. So we will see what he has in store for us and what the audience says. But I'm not going to count my chickens before the egg hatches. more info

                                  Paranormal Activity 4
                        (October 19, 2012)

Another movie that is coming this month just in time for teenage scares is Paranormal Activity 4! This movie is just like all the others only this time it's set in the future! This one is set five years later after Katie took little baby Hunter from the second Paranormal Activity. Not following who those people are? Go find the first one and second one then. Strange things start to happen when Robbie (Hunter) moves into the neighborhood...will it end this time? Who knows. This film is directed by Henry Joost, and Ariel Schulman. Joost is known for his documentarys; Cat Fish, Metropolis II and Paranormal Activity 3. Schulman is known for the same title films. This movie is coming from good ole' Paramount productions. We all know how this story goes, is it worth seeing? Well, in my opinion why don't you go rent a house with your friends, set up some cameras and start playing weird tricks on each other...same thing. Not getting my vote. more info

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Citadel
  (Release unknown)

The Citadel is another film that is coming this month! This film is about a father that has to save his daughter from a twisted feral children gang, with the help from a renegade priest. Sounds good and the trailer isn't bad. It's actually more interesting that anything else out there. I think what makes this movie more interesting is that you see the baby grow up in the trailer which means long ass movie. That can go either way, either good or bad. As long as the story line stays up. It has my vote, so far. This film was done by Blinder Film Production and written and directed by Ciaran Foy. Foy has directed many short films; 1902, The Puppet and Scumbot. This looks to be his first full feature length film. Hat off to you sir. Let's see what you got. more info

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The ABC's of Death
(Coming in 2013 for USA)

This next lovely film is called; The ABC's of Death. This film is done by a multitude of film companies and directors. For a reason! It's a bunch of short films put into one. The film is essentially an anthology of shows that show death in vicious wonder and brutal beauty. This really looks like something that came from the minds of Troma Films, looks like it will have everything gross, and funny. This one definitely get's my vote. Can see this one becoming a cult classic. more info

Well Friends, that's what we have so far. Keep coming back and I will keep updating on what new movies are coming out or different events. Remember kids, this month is no fun unless you can scare the shit out of somebody. Now go scare somebody!!
