Having trouble keeping up

Hello Dear Friends,
It has been quite sometime since I last wrote. Currently I am listening to The Band "The Weight" ( 1968). Every time I hear this song, I think of two things; A) The Big Chill B) My mother cleaning to the "The Last Waltz" playing in the background and cleaning the house. Mind you when I was growing up our house was pretty well maintained, but every spring cleaning came out "The Last Waltz" VHS that my parents owned. Such fond memories, of the smell of lemon pledge and household cleaners ha-ha. Have you ever realized that music changes as much as the seasons do? This is a thought I have pondering for quite sometime...let's be real, many years. We shall start with winter and work our way through. In the winter most people try to keep positive, but if your not an active skier, snowboarder, snow bunny or like anything to do with the cold, it's not the easiest time of year to keep smiling. I have come to realize that many people seem to listen to either oldies, or folksy kind of tunes. Towards spring starts coming up the songs that really make you happy, whether it's pop, funk, alternative. The summer seems to bring all sorts of genres out; rap, hip hop, pop (of course), I think the one that seems to be the most popular in the summer is oldies. Everyone wants to remember back to a simpler time, when they where young and foolish...or young and in love. Everyone has a summer story, especially if there's music involved. From fall into winter is when the more thought thinking kind of music seems to come into play. You will as most "normal" people notice that a lot of Rob Zombie, Marilyn Manson, Murderdolls, almost anything metal get's downloaded or bought by many during the month of October. I wonder why? Hmm, beats me. I think the reasoning for a lot of people listening to what some people call "depressing" music from November on, is the fact that a lot of people have lost loved ones during those times of the year and it's really just a coping mechanism. I will admit that I am one of those people that listen to a lot of more folk, classic rock type of music during the fall and winter. Currently, I am listening to Pink Floyd's "Brain Damage". That song was written so beautifully. There is something about Pink Floyd that makes you think about what they're talking about, and let's face it their music gives chills.
The same idea goes with whatever your feeling. If your angry you'll tend to listen to something with more of a punch, if your sad you may want to listen to a sad song or angry depending on you yourself. But I think we are all aware of this. Until next time my friends; here is something interesting that Sir Cameron Crowe said (not a musician but he wrote liner notes for them and knows just about everything there is to know about rock n roll); "It used to be, like, the sanctity of rock was that you could never let a song of yours be used in a commercial. It was like, 'Oh man, we'll never let our music be exploited that way.' Now they'll call you up and say, 'You gotta use this song in your movie, man. It's the new VW ad! People love it.' And you realize, boy, have times changed."
